The Whooper swan has come. In the middle of October, The Whooper Swan that has finished raising their children returns to Japan to spend the winter. Lake Furen is the entrance in Japan and also is the biggest gathering place where at the peak in November 7,000〜8,000 Whooper Swans come together. They rest and eat water grass there. At the beginning of November, Lake Furan starts to freeze. It is the time for them to move to Honshu. |

Deer and Squirrel act lively Fall is a busy season for animals. Squirrel, living in the forest, devour walnuts to prepare for winter. Some dig in the ground and hide them. The mating season of deer is in the fall. They compete with their antlers for females. Only a strong male can make a harem with several females. Both squirrel and deer can be seen around The Nature Center and Shunkunitai. How about looking for them? |

The beautiful moss forest At Shunkunitai, a sandbank (a long thin island made of sand) is covered with moss. It does not even look like a sandbank. The moss is the most beautiful green in fall. A part of the field trip road runs though the forest, so we recommend taking a walk there. It will take you to a fantastic world. |
