Migratory birds, Oystercatcher, coming

Oystercatchers have been common for the last ten years.  At first, there were only a few, but they have been coming increasingly.  More than fifteen have been spotted recently.  It is expected soon that twenty of them can be seen.  From the middle of April to June, we can see them wandering and looking for the food on the seashore of Shunkunitai.  Only in Shunkunitai, Hokkaido, can they be seen regularly.

Flower garden in the forests

The woods next to The Nature Center, blossom begins with Adonis amurensis, then light yellow Corydalis ambigua, then yellow Gagea lutea, then white Lysichiton camtschatcense and finally Trillium kamtschaticum.  When the insects are few, colorful flowers can be seen.  At the beginning of spring, you can see more beautiful flowers than usual.  The butterflies, invited by the flower garden, start to wake from hibernation.

Summer birds returning

The summer birds, which have avoided a cold winter in Hokkaido, return here to raise their children.  As soon as they arrive here, they start to secure their territory and prepare to raise their children.  In the woods and forest, the Japanese Robin, Red-flanked Bushrobin and Narcissus Flycatcher twitter to each other as they maintain their territory.  The bright and energetic spring starts with their beautiful chorus.
